GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – (FOX 17) The Grand River continues to rise after a week of record-setting rainfall. Grand Rapids set daily rainfall records three days in a row in the last week and shattered the record for the most amount of rain in April ever. In fact, Grand Rapids has had measurable rainfall for the last fifteen days in a row and tied an all-time record of most consecutive days with rainfall over a quarter of an inch (five days).

All that water trickles into the creeks and rivers, which has made most of them rise very quickly and now the Grand River is setting a record of its own. Friday morning the river rose above 19.64 feet surpassing the highest level ever recorded in Grand Rapids. By Saturday morning the river rose to 21 feet, more than five feet above flood stage and it will keep rising. The river is forecast to continue to rise through the weekend before peaking early Monday morning at 23 feet. Every hour until Monday we will set a new all-time record high before flood waters slowly fall.
