Volunteers Continue Filling Sandbags to Keep GR Safe

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-Hundreds of volunteers showed up for the third day in a row to fill much-needed sand bags in the water-logged city of Grand Rapids.

The goal has been to fill 150,000 bags over the weekend in an attempt to help keep homes and business’ safe from the record flood waters on the grand river.

Volunteers are bringing entire families to the sites at 660 Market and 201 Market SW as they work together to fill the need. Jeremy Gifford of GR brought his wife

And 2 kids and a nephew down to help out. Gifford says he just wants his kids to learn to give to others and have fun in the process. City workers are on 12 hour shifts as they prepare for the waters to crest sometime in the early hours of Monday morning.
