WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A teenager was struck Thursday morning  near a country intersection north of Marne.

The teen was taken to Spectrum Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids in critical condition.

A Coopersville school bus had stopped, and the boy and his brother were trying to get to the bus. There were nine other students aboard the bus. They weren’t hurt, but a crisis team was made available at Coopersville high school.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the teen was released from the scene, and police did not immediately say the driver was at fault.

The scene when a FOX 17 news crew arrived (see photo) indicated 8th Avenue near Arthur Street was blocked, with a school bus stopped in one lane with other vehicles, included police, in the other lane.

The first calls were taken by dispatchers shortly before 7 a.m.

It’s really depressing to see this kind of news. Every driver should take full responsibility especially if they’re behind the wheels as we don’t know when an accident could take placed and who could be involved.

if the bus had its lights on and "was doing everything right" (as said on the news) why did the driver of the car get released? Didn't the bus have its stop sign out??? I am so angry at this! A bus with flashing lights and the car hits him???? ridiculous! prayers for that child!!!

Former? it says the teen and his little brother were crossing the road to get on the bus..and I agree how is the driver not responsible? If you hit black ice and hit another car, tree or pole you are the responsible one and your the one that gets a ticket..makes no sense

I hope all my friends and friend of my friends pray that he gets better and hopefully gets back to school soon.
