Crews Work ON Tower PlazaGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Residents in one of the tallest buildings in downtown Grand Rapids face more delays to get back their stranded vehicles.

About 1,000 residents of Plaza Towers have been evacuated from their condos and apartments since late last week.

At one point there were seven feet of standing water in the building’s parking garage which forced power to be shut down.  It is still not clear when residents will be allowed to pull their vehicles from the structure.

Chris Knape, a spokesperson for Plaza Towers said, “Some insurance companies asked that we not move the vehicles prior to their ability to assess damage. Because of those concerns we have postponed moving all vehicles until we are able to provide access to vehicles in their current locations. If a resident has already turned in their keys to us as a result of our earlier announcement and would like them back they may pick them up at our temporary security office at 237 W. Fulton (adjacent to FedEx).”
