GRAND RAPIDS,Mich. — Excel Charter Academy students collected 6,000 pounds of clothes to donate to the nonprofit In the Image. This is the second year the students held a drive for the organization as part of a service learning project. Last year, the students donated shoes, this year they decided to collect clothes. Along with providing clothes for people in need in Grand Rapids, the school also donated funds to an organization in Uganda that provides mosquito nets for school-aged children to help prevent the spread of Malaria. Teachers hope this project showed students how they can help locally and reach globally.
