GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An area of low pressure will slide through the Great Lakes Wednesday, bringing more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity to the region throughout the day.

The threat of severe weather is not very high around West Michigan; most of the stronger storms will likely remain south and east of the area.  However, areas of rain with a little lightning were already developing around West Michigan early Wednesday morning.

As the low-pressure center moves through, winds will shift to the north and increase through Wednesday night and Thursday.  That will pull in significantly cooler air heading into the weekend.

Rain showers will linger into midday Thursday before West Michigan starts to dry out again.  Temperatures will only get back to around 60° Thursday afternoon.

More sunshine and seasonable temperatures will return for most of the Memorial Day weekend.  You can check out the full 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
