GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A cold front exiting West Michigan during the day Thursday will take rain showers along with it, but also bring in much cooler air for the start of the Memorial Day weekend.

Scattered showers with minimal thunder will continue to slide through the area in the morning, with the rain tapering off from north to south from midday into the early afternoon.  Some sunshine will follow as the weather dries out late in the day.

However, even as some sun returns, a stiff northerly breeze will keep many areas in the 50s through the afternoon and evening.  At best, some temperatures may get back near 60°.

As skies continue to clear Thursday night, winds will calm down and allow temperatures to slip into the mid to upper 30s in some spots, especially north of Grand Rapids.  Patchy frost is possible, so it may be a good idea to cover up sensitive plants.

Improvement is ahead through the weekend, but temperatures will remain seasonably cool for Friday and Saturday in particular.  Check out the rest of the 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
