Griffins Beat Oklahoma City in Game 1 of Western Conference Finals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The Grand Rapids Griffins opened their best-of-seven Western Conference Finals by beating the Oklahoma City Barons, 2-1 at Van Andel Arena Friday night.

Brennan Evans got the scoring started in the 1st period giving the Griffins a 1-0 lead.  The Barons anwered later in the 1st on goal by Andrew Hotham making it 1-1 after 1 period.  Landon Ferraro scored the game-winner early in the 2nd when Tomas Jurco’s pass deflected off Mitch Callahan’s skate right to Ferraro in front of the net.

Griffins goaltender Petr Mrazek did the rest, making 27 saves on the night.

Game 2 takes place Saturday night back at Van Andel arena at 7 P.M..
