sheriff_genericVAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich- On Friday Van Buren County Deputies tried to stop a vehicle traveling close to 100 mph on 23 1/2 Street near 5th avenue,  in Pine Grove Township Friday evening. It took Deputies almost 5 miles to catch up and stop the vehicle. A 46-year-old man from Holland was driving the vehicle claiming he had to get home soon so he wouldn’t violate his parole/ curfew hours.

The suspect was on parole for CSC 3rd degree (criminal sexual conduct).

In the passenger seat was a 15-year-old girl, who was found to be an escapee, for almost two weeks, from an Ottawa County Juvenile Home.  The suspect and the passenger did not provide much as to how they knew each other or what type of relationship they actually have.

The driver was arrested for reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and for a parole violation. The 15-year-old was transported back to the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention Facility.

Van Buren County Sheriff Deputies are looking for further charges on the suspect for violation of his sex offender restrictions.
