GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mostly cloudy conditions will prevail around West Michigan Monday, with a chance of showers developing at times south of Grand Rapids.

After a very pleasant weekend, a warm front developing to the south and west of the region will gradually lift into the Great Lakes early this week.  While this will bring more summerlike temperatures through the middle and end of the week, it will also be a focus mechanism for several rounds of showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures will hold in the 60s for most of West Michigan Monday with the additional cloud cover around.  Only a few scattered showers are likely, but even a brief shower could put a damper on holiday cookout or other outdoor plans.

As the main push of moisture works its way into the area Tuesday, a round of showers and storms will be likely in the morning, with the chance of strong to severe storms in the afternoon or evening depending on how conditions develop.

More chances of thunderstorms will exist later in the week, with highs pushing into the 80s.
