GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– A West Michigan family is still looking for answers five years after their loved one was murdered.
Eric Walton, who was 38 at the time, was shot and killed in his sleep on June 23, 2008, during a home invasion on Delaware Street SE Grand Rapids. His family says no arrests have been made.
Every year since Walton’s death, family and friends have held a vigil at Garfield Park Cemetery to pray in the hope that someone will come forward.
Taleah Walton, Eric’s sister, says every year it gets harder. “We all love him here,” she says. “His kids love him, and we just wish we could all go on one day without having to look over our shoulders with this person out there.”
Walton just hopes keeping Eric’s name and story alive will bring someone to say something. “Anything that will help, if you know anything, just talk to the police about it, because they can’t solve this by themselves. We need the community to step forward.”
