The complaint also says that Smits claims that his stepfather Kevin Archer, also imprisoned for bank robbery, gave him the idea.  He was indicted Wednesday on one count of bank robbery by a federal grand jury.

Grand Rapids police released surveillance photos from the bank after the robbery, and took Smits into custody on July 7.  The FBI says that Smit took $1,290, and admitted to being high on heroin during the crime.  He also was stressed about his stage two prostate cancer, according to the complaint.
