GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The man accused of having more than 42,000 images of child porn on his computer and more than 1,500 videos had a rocky past with his adopted son.

Jeffery Marchione, 47, is being held in Newaygo County. He is accused of possessing the pornography in a four-count federal indictment. He’s also accused of transporting those images electronically across state lines to Illinois and New York.

Court documents show Marchione was accused of domestic violence in 2006, stemming from an incident with his adopted son that occurred at Central Woodland School in Ada. He was arrested in April of 2006 for assault and battery, domestic violence following that incident.

Records state that Marchione pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of disturbing the peace in that case.

He reported to the courts that he was declaring bankruptcy around the time of the 2006 incident.

Neighbors say his house was foreclosed on and the family moved quickly.

Approximately three years later, Marchione was licensed by the state of Michigan to become a counselor.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says  Marchione was given his Educational Limited Professional Counselor’s license in 2009.

Employees report that he passed the state’s background check procedure.

Those who are licensed counselors through the state must also receive a master’s degree from an accredited counseling program.

The state reports that Marchione had received his Master’s of Mental Health Counseling from the University of Phoenix in 2009.

Most recently, he had his home address in Alto, Michigan listed online as his counseling center which specialized in families and teens.

He had no formal complaints against him through the state as a counselor.

Marchione reported to the court that he also worked at Metro health at the time he was accused of domestic violence. Metro Health reports that he left the job on his own accord about five years ago. That was around the time he was facing the charge for domestic violence.

Marchione had no other criminal activity in his history that involved crimes against children.

He was arraigned in early June 2013 on federal charges that he possessed child pornography.

US Attorneys have most recently made a motion in court to revoke Marchione’s bond following new allegations from a teen who said he was molested by Marchione.

That teen came forward after Marchione was arrested on the pornography charges.
