SaladHUDSONVILLE, Mich- The City of Hudsonville is going for a world record today. A salad bar record.

5,000 pounds and 680 feet long is the mark organizers are hoping for to set the new record. The salad includes red and green leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, green and red cabbage, celery, onion, carrots, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and radishes. All of the produce is locally grown in West Michigan.

According to Guinness World Records, the current record was set in South Africa in 2002. That salad bar set the record at 660 feet long and weighed in at over 4,500 pounds.

This is a part of Hudsonville’s Salad Bowl Bash that goes on all day on Saturday.

Organizers will have to wait till at least Monday to find out if they have the new world record.
