WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — With cooler than normal temperatures in place across West Michigan over the past week, some people are wondering if an early fall is upon us. A check of the records shows that there are plenty of warm temperatures on the way in coming weeks.

This image shows high temperatures today in West Michigan. Most areas were 10 to 15 degrees below the normal highs in the lower 80s.  The rest of the week will be warmer, though not very hot.

For those people who like hot weather, history is on your side.  The latest 90-degree high temperature on record in both Grand Rapids and Muskegon isn’t until September 29. On that date in 1953, the high was 93 degrees in Grand Rapids and 92 degrees in Muskegon.

The latest 80-degree temperature on record is November 1 in Grand Rapids (81 degrees in 1951) and October 23 in Muskegon (80 degrees in 1963).

In other words, there is plenty of warm weather on the way.
