080213satradWEST MICHIGAN — A complex of showers and thunderstorms are moving across Lake Michigan this morning and headed into West Michigan. Areas of light rain showers will be possible ahead of the main complex however these showers will be light and scattered. As we head through the afternoon, chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue mainly south of the I-96 corridor. Showers and thunderstorms will start to taper off this evening however cloud cover will likely stick around for the first half of Saturday before the sun returns and temperatures warm into the mid to upper 70’s.

Cooler than average temperatures stick around through the next week as high temperatures will stay in the mid to upper 70’s. Afternoon high temperatures have stayed below 80 for the last nine days and while that does seem like an extended time to stay below average in the first week of August, the longest stretch of temperatures below 80 degrees is actually 13 consecutive days. We may have a fairly decent chance at beating that record as high temperatures are forecast to stay below 80 degrees through next week.
