Ex-Staffer At Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools Arrested On Sexual Conduct Charge

Crime-handcuffs-jailGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A former staff member at the city’s two Catholic high schools has been arrested in Grand Blanc and is being returned to Grand Rapids for arraignment.

Abby Simon is accused of having an imappropriate relationship with a student and is charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct.

Simon was an “auxilliary academic support staff member” at Catholic Central High School and West Catholic High School, said the Diocese of Grand Rapids in a letter to parents sent out in April. The allegations arose in April and Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary Schools fired her, said the letter.

A warrant for Simon’s arrest was issued August 7, and she was arrested August 8. The Grand Rapids Police Department was involved in investigating the matter since the allegations arose in April, said the Diocese letter.
