WEST MICHIGAN – While there is a chance for a few showers and perhaps a few thunder showers on Monday, most of next week looks dry, comfortable, and cool by August standards.

High pressure will build in to the region on Tuesday. It tends to create sinking air or subsidence. That’s the opposite of what we need for cloud formation and precipitation. That means dry air and dry conditions from Tuesday through Saturday.

While we’re technically not in a drought, it has certainly been dry around West Michigan. The grass is brown and crusty, weeds are flourishing, and aside from Monday, more extended dry weather is in store.

Don’t forget to watch for the Perseid meteor showers this weekend. Clouds will likely preclude any great viewing Sunday and Monday night, but try looking Saturday night. Move away from the city lights, look to the northeast, and you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the annual event.
