COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — The Comstock Park couple accused of raping a 1-year-old girl is awaiting extradition from South Carolina to face charges in Kent County.

Michael Justin Emory and his girlfriend, Stevie Foehl will face charges of first degree CSC.

Detectives in Ottawa County were originally investigating Michael Emory for having sex with a 14-year-old in the Coopersville area.

The girl had posted an ad on Craigslist for babysitting services.

Ottawa county officials say Michael responded and convinced the girl to enter into a sexual relationship.

Her parents found the two together and began asking questions, launching the investigation.

Upon obtaining search warrants and seizing Michael’s computer, detectives found video of the rape of the 1-year-old on the computer and turned that case over to Kent County.

The alleged rape of the 1-year-old took place at the apartment the couple shared in Comstock Park.

Detectives recognized the apartment because of the previous investigation.

“Detectives had been at that residence during the course of our criminal sexual conduct investigation so we immediately got a hold of the Kent County Sheriff’s Office where we worked together with them on their case,” said Lt. Mark Bennett, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

Kent County investigators will be pursuing the assault of the 1-year-old by both Stevie and Michael while Ottawa County detectives will continue to investigate the assault of the 14-year-old by Michael.

Stevie is not believed to be involved in the Ottawa County CSC case involving the 14-year-old girl.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office says the couple has waived extradition back to Michigan, so that should make the process easier.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said the cooperation of several law enforcement agencies was needed in the arrests.

“That’s the beauty of the FBI task force and we sought out help from the agencies in south Carolina and they were all very helpful,” said Kent County Undersheriff Jon Hess. “Detectives just got back from South Carolina on Sunday.”

Detectives with Kent County say the couple had no prior criminal history of sexual assaults.

Investigators are concerned there may be more victims.

They are asking those with questions or concerns to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office or the Silent Observer program.
