GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Heat and humidity will continue to gradually increase during the day Tuesday.  This, combined with several days of high pressure and dry conditions, signals a return to stagnant air and an increase in the ozone levels.

As a result, Tuesday is the first Clean Air Action! Day of 2013 in West Michigan.  2012 featured 25 such days for the Grand Rapids area.

People are advised to refrain from activities that would elevate the ozone levels. This includes, but is not limited to, using gas-powered lawn mowers, filling up your car’s fuel tank, and using lighter fluid on a grill.

Also during times when the ozone levels are elevated, people with asthma and young children should avoid being outside for extended periods.

Our next rain chances will arrive in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms late Wednesday night or Thursday morning.  Rain will likely end by late in the day Thursday, with dry conditions expected again through the majority of the weekend.
