Police Arrest Suspected MSU Rapist

wilderEAST LANSING, Mich- Just days before classes begin at Michigan State University, a serial rapist is off the streets tonight in East Lansing.

The East Lansing Police Department has arrested and charged Oswald Scott Wilder, a 26-year-old male from Vernon, Michigan. He was arrested Friday night and was arraigned this morning in 54th-B District Court on seven criminal charges including, one count 1st degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, one count gross indecency between male and female by sexually delinquent person and a habitual offender fourth offense notice.

He is being held on no bond in the Ingham County Jail.

The assaults took place in three different areas around East Lansing.  The first sexual assault took place on Coolidge Road south of Lake Lansing Road around midnight on Saturday, April 20. The second attempted sexual assault took place at approximately 3 a.m. on Friday, April 26 in the 300 block of Charles Street. The third sexual assault took place on Thursday, May 16 at approximately 8 p.m. in the parking lot outside of the Abbott Pointe Apartments off of Abbot Road.
