GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Flood advisories have been cancelled Wednesday morning after thunderstorms brought heavy rain to much of mid-Michigan Tuesday night.

Areas mainly east and north of Grand Rapids picked up extremely heavy rain in thunderstorms during the night, resulting in flooding of low-lying areas and some street flooding, especially around the Lansing area.

A number of locations reported more than three inches of rain; Lansing officially recorded 3.39″, more than doubling the previous record for August 27.

The sky will clear out during the day Wednesday, but a warm and humid airmass will remain in place through the rest of the week.  Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s Wednesday, and push near 90° for highs Thursday into the weekend.

The next chance of rain will arrive by Friday, with off and on thunderstorms possible over the Labor Day weekend as well.

Some cooler air will arrive on Monday and hang around much of next week; you can see the full 7 Day Forecast on the Weather page.
