Four Men Arrested For Boating While Intoxicated In Van Buren Co.

PleasantLakeVAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich- Four men are in the Van Buren County Jail after being arrested for boating while intoxicated on three separate waterways in Van Buren County on Saturday.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, the first incident happened on Round Lake in Keeler Township. Deputies stopped a pontoon boat around 8:30 p.m. Saturday evening.  After conducting a safety inspection Marine Deputies found that the boat operator was under the influence of alcohol. That was man was arrested and is awaiting arraignment in Van Buren County Court.

The second incident happened on Three Mile Lake in Paw Paw Township according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies stopped the pontoon boat around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. After conducting a vessel safety inspection the Marine Deputies found the boat operator to be under the influence of alcohol. The boat operator was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail pending arraignment in Van Buren County Court.  The boat operator was also issued tickets for Refusal of a PBT and no boat registration on the vessel.

The third incident happened on the Black River in South Haven according to Deputies around 5:15 p.m. Saturday. Deputies observed the boat operator hit his dock while attempting to dock the vessel. After making contact with the male boat operator, the Marine Deputies found the boat operator to be under the influence of alcohol. The boat operator was subsequently arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail pending arraignment.

The fourth incident happened again on Three Mile Lake in Paw Paw Township around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Deputies conducted a safety inspection, the Marine Deputy found the boat operator to be under the influence of alcohol. The boat operator was subsequently arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and lodged at the Van Buren County Jail pending arraignment.
