Record-Setting Tuesday

WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) —  Normal highs this time of year are in the middle 70s. High temperatures on Tuesday were not only 20 degrees above normal but record setting as well.

This image shows the high temperatures in West Michigan on Tuesday. The range was from 88 degrees in Fremont to 96 in Three Rivers. Here is a closer look at some of the records:

  • GRAND RAPIDS:  The high temperature of 94 degrees tied the record high set in 1931. Further, the low Tuesday morning of 77 degrees shattered the record for the warmest low temperature on September 10. The old record was 71, also set in 1931.
  • MUSKEGON: The high temperature of 87 degrees was just one degree shy on the record high of 88 set in 1983.  The morning low of 75 broke the record for the warmest low temperature. The old record was 73 in 1961.

Alpena had a record high of 95 degrees, while South Bend, Ind. had a record-setting 97.
