ALBION, Mich.,–The city of Albion spent Thursday cleaning up from a storm that tore through their city. One of the hardest hits part of town, the campus of Albion College.

The National Weather Service says it was a ‘micro burst’ that caused the damage, a quick storm with heavy rain and winds in excess of 70mph.

The damage was so bad; they actually chose to close the campus till at least Monday after most of the buildings lost power. There are about 1,300 students that go to Albion College and for those that couldn’t go home they opened one of the dorms with power for students to stay at.

Frandsen says about a hundred students are staying on campus this weekend. He says he is just happy that no one was hurt and says it’s been great to see the way the students have pulled together.

“I was out walking on campus last night and I ran into some students. I said “how are you doing” and they said we’re doing fine and this is actually really pulling us together as a community. If anything could make my day yesterday, that was it just to know people are rallying around each other during a difficult situation and making the most of it,” he said.
