BELDING, Mich. — Lucie Robinson shared a picture that was drawn by Joe Johnson.

It depicts Jesus and a young boy holding a fishing rod and tackle box. Robinson said that young boy is Devon Morrison.

“That picture just caught me. That picture just took my heart right away,” Robinson said.

The 10-year-old’s body was found Monday in the Flat River under this bridge. He’d gone missing Saturday. After an intensive search by law enforcement and community members, Morrison’s body was found near one of his favorite fishing spots. Police said preliminary findings of an autopsy show that he accidentally drowned.

Robinson believes the picture give s a glimpse of what Devon is up to now.

“I’m hoping that’s exactly what happened when this accident took place. That Jesus came, grabbed Devon up, and he didn’t have to suffer,” she said.

Robinson said she plans to have it enlarged and wants to present it to Devon’s famly. She also plans to laminate the photo and place a copy by the bridge at the river where so many other tributes are accumulating.

“He was just lots of fun. The boy just had his own way, his own character, his own personality that just touched everybody’s heart.”

Friends of the little boy wrote letters expressing their condolences.

“Now Devon can do all the fishing that he wants, and he’s gonna have a field day with it up in the heavens,” Robinson said.

The viewing for Devon Morrison is scheduled for this Thursday, September 19th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
It will be held at the Houghton Lake Christler Funeral Home.

Morrison’s funeral will be held Friday, September 20th at 11 a.m. at the same location.
The family established the Devon Morrison Memorial Fund. Donations can be made at any Independent Bank in Michigan. This will help the family pay for funeral and burial expenses.
