GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Just hours before the official start of ArtPrize 2013, artists were still putting on the finishing touches to their work. Before you head to Grand Rapids to check it all out, here are some things you need to know to get the most out of your experience.

Where do I park?

If you don’t want the hassle of finding and paying for a meter, there is free parking after 5 p.m. at surface lots like Ionia Mason and North Monroe. If you want to avoid the congestion all together there are other options.

“You can start at any one of the six Meijer locations. You can pick up a wristband, two for five dollars and you and a friend can take the bus downtown,” said Brian Burch with ArtPrize. “If you chose to park you can park in one of the dash lots and ride the dash bus for free with your wristband.”

How do you register to vote?

You can actually register before heading downtown just by heading to ArtPrize website and signing up that way. There is also an ArtPrize app you can download if you have a smart phone.

“Once they come downtown it will ask them if they want to register to vote and it will take care of the rest for them and they can just start voting,” Burch said.

There is also the option of texting in your vote by using the voter code on each venue sign. For more information on how to register: http://www.artprize.org/help/voters

How do I find all of the art scattered around the city?

Just like in years past there are easy ways to navigate around Grand Rapids. They have walking paths set up to help you get to each neighborhood and outside of just the “city center.”
