Softball Tournament Remembers Fallen GRPD Officer

Kozminski SoftballGRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- First responders from all over West Michigan are taking part in the 7th Annual softball tournament that honors fallen GRPD officer Robert “Koz” Kozminski.

Teams from as far away Oakland County and Big Rapids are playing today at Huff Park in Grand Rapids. Kozminski

This year, all players will be wearing specially made wrist sweatbands, adorned with fallen Michigan State Trooper Paul Butterfield’s name and number, in honor of Trooper Butterfield’s service and the sacrifice he made in the line of duty.

Robert Kozminski was killed in the line of duty on July 7th, 2008.

This annual fundraiser benefits the Thin Blue Line of Michigan, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to families of injured, personal illness, disabled, or deceased members of the law enforcement community, in addition to Firefighters, Dispatchers, Corrections, EMT, EMS and Administrative Clerks.
