Greg Barker PicGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — FOX 17 has confirmed that Greg Barker, 21, died Saturday, after he was a victim of an assault near the B.O.B. on the sidewalk and in the parking lot.

Barker attended Central Michigan University at one time and was a graduate of Forest Hills Central High School.

His family declined comment to FOX 17.

Grand Rapids Police Officers were called to the B.O.B. parking lot because of the fight, but everyone was gone when they got there.

Witnesses say there was a verbal fight on the sidewalk north of the B.O.B. where punches were thrown and a group of people chased Barker into the parking lot just north of the bar. Security guards helped break up the fight and everyone left.

Greg Gilmore the owner of The B.O.B. issued this statement to FOX 17, “That’s correct, we had two party buses show up at different times after midnight, most of the groups were denied entry and they are the ones that caused the problems.  Our security only got involved when they saw one of the groups ganging up on people over by the lot by Fridays.”

Then around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to Barker’s house in Cascade Township where he was having medical issues. Barker was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says that Barker died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen that caused internal bleeding.
