Man Dead After Alleged Assault Near The B.O.B.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man is dead after a fight and alleged assault near the B.O.B. bar.

The fight occurred on Saturday morning just after 1 a.m. Grand Rapids police officers were called to the B.O.B. parking lot because of the fight, but everyone was gone when they got there.

Witnesses say there was a verbal fight on the sidewalk north of the B.O.B. where punches were thrown, and a group of people chased a man into that parking lot just north of the bar. Security guards helped break up the fight and everyone left.

Then around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, officers were called to a house in Cascade Township where a man said he was having medical issues and had been in a fight at the B.O.B. earlier in the morning. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. The cause of his death is unknown and is still being investigated.

If you have any information on this incident, you’re being asked to call Grand Rapids Police at 1-616-456-3604 or Silent Observer at 1-616-774-2345.

How many more incidents like this have to happen before they are finally shut down?! I think it only took 1 issue like this to shut down the Margarita Grille….yet the BOB stays open after 4 dead bodies….must be the money keeping to doors open.

  • Yup

    Sure blame the bar ….
not the little runts who can't act like adults.

So do you think if they closed the BOB the little miscreants would just stay home with mom or would they find another bar to shut down ?

    We better close Division ave….

I'm wondering how many more deaths have to occur before they close down the BOB.. They closed Margarita Grill for less, and the New Roosevelt – so, how come, when the cops are called there every weekend for fights and such, yet, the BOB stays open…. 3 deaths – two within a month of each other, and they FINALLY fixed the problem – seems like Gilmore's deep pockets are working overtime…..

Soon you won’t have anywhere to go. If you continue to blame the buildings instead of dealing with the real issues. Look around you Grand Rapids!
