Just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, a vehicle containing three people turned into the path of an oncoming car at Cedar Springs Avenue and Egner, investigators told FOX 17.
Kathleen Bitely, 88, of Bailey, a passenger in the first car, was killed. The driver, Judy Mae Ranger, 69, of Brohman, Mich., and another passengers, Herbert Donald Smith, 92, of Twin Lakes, were hurt but are expected to recover.
The driver of the second car, Kristy Lynn Beemer, 28, of Sand Lake, and three passengers were also hurt. Michael McBridge, 30, of Sand Lake, and two small children suffered various injuries. One of the children had two broken femurs. Both children were in child seats.
Investigators said it was too early to tell if weather was a factor, but alcohol was not considered a factor.
