GRAND RAPIDS, Mich- The principal of Knapp Forest Elementary will have a cool night of sleep. Scott Haid is staying the night on the roof of the school to help thank students, staff and parents for their support during the Hawk Walk. The event is the annual fundraiser for the parent teacher organization.

In order to get Principal Haid to stay on the roof, he created a challenge for the students and community to increase donor contributions to the school, which ultimately helps the PTO enhance educational opportunites for both students and staff.

Prinicpal Haid began his stay on the roof of Knapp Forest Elementary around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, and will remain up there until around 8:40 a.m. on Friday morning. Haid will be able to come down for restroom breaks, but otherwise will stay in a tent on top of the building, where overnight tempertures are expected to be in the 40s.

Some of the funds raised from that Halk Walk will be used for things like books and field trips.
