TROY, Mich. — Roughly 2,000 people showed up to an open casting call in Troy Sunday, hoping to land a role in the new Star Wars movie.

“The principle casting directors working with our director J.J. Abrams in Los Angeles have sent us out on this pretty grueling road trip,” casting representative Maryellen Aviano told The Detroit News.

Aviano and the rest of the casting team are looking to fill two major roles in the upcoming seventh film in the franchise.  They made a stop in Chicago Nov. 14 and plan on holding similar meetings in Austin and Nashville.
On Sunday, though, they met with hopefuls from noon to 5 p.m. at the Somerset Inn, 2601 W. Big Beaver Rd in Troy.
If you missed the in-person meeting, you can also submit an application online before the Dec. 3 deadline.  The Daily Tribune in Royal Oak reports that filming will begin in 2014 in the United Kingdom.

Disney recently announced that the new Star Wars movie, directed by J.J. Abrams, is scheduled for release Dec. 18, 2015.

Did they tell you how many people were upset that they didn't tell people to come with a head shot and resume . And if someone didn't they got asked what their favorite star wars movie was then asked to leave. At towards the very end around 4:20 it didn't matter weather you had one or not you still had to post one online . It was very poorly done they knew what they were looking for and yet they didn't sort people . I personally waited for four and a half hours and didn't even get to read lines. I drove two and a half hours to get told to submit a video online.
