CASSOPOLIS, Mich. — The National Weather Service office based in Northern Indiana released details Monday evening about a small tornado that was confirmed in Cassopolis Sunday afternoon as severe storms rolled through the Great Lakes.

According to the report, the tornado touched down at about 3:27 P.M., and was only on the ground for about two minutes.  The path was just under a half mile, and stretched from just east of Cassopolis Ross Beatty High School onto Park Shore Golf Course just to the north.  The width of the tornado was only about 50 yards at its peak.

Damage caused by the tornado was rated at EF-1, on the Enhanced Fujita scale that ranges from zero to five.  That indicates estimated peak wind speeds around 110 miles per hour.
