Kalamazoo-County-unit-day-genericKALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich — A Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputy accused of having sex with an inmate will not face criminal charges, according to prosecutors.

The deputy, whose name is not being released, was investigated by Michigan State Police this summer.   State police submitted their investigation in September and sought a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors asked the state Attorney General to assign another county prosecutor to review the case because of the deputy’s employment with the sheriff’s department.

Calhoun County Prosecutor David Gilbert said Wednesday that based on the investigation report that there is a lack of reliable information and not enough evidence for a conviction.
