US-131 Re-Open at 10 Mile After Numerous Slide-Off Accidents

U.S. 131 and 12 Mile Road

KENT COUNTY, Mich. – The Kent County Sheriff’s Department responded to numerous slide-off accidents on northbound U.S. 131 in northern Kent County.

The crashes were reported before 1 p.m. in the area of northbound U.S. 131 near 12 Mile Road.  Michigan State Police said at least six cars were involved.

US-131 at 10 Mile was re-opened at roughly 3:16 p.m.

The closure was due to numerous car crashes as a result of rapidly forming ice on the road surface.  At this point no injuries have been reported.  The closure is for an indeterminate period of time.

    there were alot more than 6 we drove through it. We counted 10+ and counting as it happened and continued. It looked like a disaster zone through there with car parts all over the highway, and cars up, down, in the median, backwards forwards.
