Belmont, Mich. — If you’re looking for a new family tradition, cutting down your own Christmas tree is a great option. Mike Avery, FOX17 Morning News Floor Director Mike Davis and I headed to Lenderink Tree Farm after multiple co-workers suggested we go there.

The free hot chocolate is flowing at Lenderink Tree Farm and that has to be your first stop; I think Mike Avery drank a few gallons of it during our visit!  Up next is roasting a few marshmallows at their cozy bonfire, then you grab a saw that they provide and you’re free to walk or take a wagon ride into the wilderness to search for the perfect tree.

The family-owned business offers hypoallergenic trees in case someone in your family is allergic to pine.

If cutting down a tree isn’t your thing, you can always pick out a pre-cut tree; they also offer free tree shaking and bundling.

Lenderink Tree Farm is located at 1267 House Street NE in Belmont, Michigan. They’re open Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
