Suspect Arrested Following Armed Robbery on Side of Road

Crime-handcuffs-jailKALAMAZOO, Mich. — An 18-year-old Kalamazoo man has been lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail, after police arrested him following an armed robbery.

Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers responded to the 1000 block of East Vine just after 8:00 p.m. on Dec. 10, where the victim told officers the suspect approached him as he was stopped on the side of the road.

The victim told officers that the suspect had a handgun and demanded money and a cell phone. After the victim handed over the items, the suspect ran from the scene.

Around 9:30 p.m. the same night, officers found the suspect in a parked vehicle in the 3100 block of South Westnedge. They found stolen property, but did not recover the handgun.

The suspect was arrested on the charge of armed robbery, and the prosecutor’s office will review the investigation.
