its alright for a kid to be bundled up and play outside in the cold but not sit in a car for a few minutes? we live in a society of pussies these days

10 minuets is a cold car is nothing ( assuming the child wasn't a "baby" and was dressed for winter"
This is getting out of hand, this isn't abuse by a long shot.

!0 minutes is 9 min 59.9 seconds too long .Make the person responsible stand outside without shoes and a coat for 30 minutes and see how it feels and take the child as God knows what else the person does behind closed doors if they will do this in public.

well not so fast ptctc, if the parent/guardian strategically parked the vehicle in the direction towards the sun then the ambient temperature of the air inside the vehicle should be more than tolerable. however given the claim that there was visible breath exiting the childs mouth then this would be a consistent that the parent/guardian did not park in the right direction.

It can happen to anybody. Studies have shown that even responsible parents can forget a child in the car, it has nothing to do with how good of a parent you are. The incidences of this happening started rising after parents were told to move their babies car seat from the front to the back.

Also, a baby should NEVER be dressed for the weather in a car seat. Having layers on in a car seat can be deadly in a crash.

IM SORRY… BUT IF THE CHILD IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO STAY HOME ALONE, ITS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE LEFT IN A CAR WHILE INSIDE A BUILDING SHOPPING.. running into a gas station real quick or someplace that u can still see your vehicle is one thing.. but a grocery store.. and if this child was an infant, it doesnt matter if she was dressed or not, thats WAY to young to be left in a car alone, no heat, no adult, unlocked.. are u F****ng kidding me.. this world is not full of pussies.. its full of STUPID people that could give 2 shits less about the children they bring into the world.. but i guess if it wasnt for stupid people I wouldnt be blessed with those unwanted/ uncared for children in my home.. COMMEN SCENSE PEOPLE!!!

I didn't see the child's age in the story, did you? I didn't see how long the child was alone in the story, did you? I've seen stories on this site where a 19yr. old is called a child after he was shot by police. Let's get some facts before we spout off shall we??

Kid , infant, not an infant… Wtf? Ya don't leave children ,pets etc in a car by themselves for dangerous periods of time. They can't tell you when something is wrong they can't tell you if they are dying or comfortable..they can't tell you anything and even if they could YOU CANT HEAR THEM BECAUSE YOUR DUMB ASS LEFT THEM IN THE CAR UNATTENDED. what are people thinking ? Seriously if anyone out there thinks that what happened to that infant is "just not that bad" you need your heads examined. I would be the first one to take away their parental rights if I possibly could and whoever the parents are, that worried more about their stomachs and the hassle that it would be to take your infant child to the grocery store? I hope you go to jail!

If you are like 9 or 10 years and left in a car by yourself for a few minutes that is alright. Anyone under that age should NEVER be left in a car by themselves, I do not care what the situation is. If a parent leaves child or infant in a vehicle and they are not dressed for the weather then the parents needs to be charged with neglect. It is the same thing if you decide to leave a mentally handicapped person or a elderly person that cannot take care of themselves in a motor vehicle while you go into a store. IT is totally RIDICULOUS! iamascientist @ you, you seem to be comparing a dog to a human being and that is totally wrong of you to do. Leave your dog at home in this weather, it if is to cold for you, then it is to cold for your pet!!!
