GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Expect to see more orange barrels out on West Michigan roads in 2014, and that’s a good thing, as years of watching state dollars is about to pay off.

State legislators announced a list of more than 100 state and local projects set to start in Spring. The money is coming from a Roads and Risks Reserve (RRR) Fund. It’s a fund that was set up last Spring to set aside money for road projects.

There is $115 million for the entire state; West Michigan will get $15 million of that.

“Three years of sound budget decisions and living within our means has made it possible to direct existing resources toward our roads,” said Randy Richardville, Michigan Senate Majority Leader.
