GRAND RAPIDS,Mich. — Regularly scheduled Friday collections of refuse and recycling are suspended until Saturday, December 21, due to the icy and dangerous conditions of some residential streets.
A number of refuse collection vehicles and recycle vehicles attempted to begin collections on the regular Friday routes, but reported dangerously icy conditions. The decision was made to suspend collections until Saturday. The safety of our residents as they place their trash and recycling at the curb, as well as the employees who collect the same, was given the highest consideration as the decision was made.
We currently have every available salt truck and driver trying to improve the residential streets. Your patience is appreciated as the potential for further ice/snow mix has been forecast.
