GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The storm which dumped rain, ice, and snow across West Michigan is responsible for power outages across the state early Sunday morning.
Across the state, more than 155,000 Consumers Energy customers were without power as of 12:30 p.m. That number continues to grow as the ice and snow both continue to fall. The hardest-hit counties in West Michigan are Kent County which has over 21,000 customers with out power and Barry County which has over 14,000 customers with out power.
Ionia County Dispatch announced Sunday afternoon that power would likely not be restored for residents in time for Christmas.
The Red Cross announced it would be opening shelters in Middleville at 128 High St. and Battle Creek at 14600 Beadle Lake Rd.
Consumers Energy has yet to give a time table on when power might be restored.
