Down Home Restaurant in Greenville opened doors to utility workers on Christmas
JACKSON, Mich. — Consumers Energy spent Christmas repairing a record amount of downed power lines.
The company said as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, there were still about 97,000 people without power in the state.
Crews planned to restore power to all customers in northern Kent County on Christmas day.
Their plan is to restore power to Allegan, Ionia, Gratiot, Ottawa, and the rest of Kent County on Thursday.
On Friday, power is scheduled to be restored to Kalamazoo, Montcalm and portions of Allegan and Ionia Counties.
Lastly, on Saturday, Consumers Energy plans to restore power to portions of Calhoun, Barry, Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Ingham, Livingston, Oakland and Shiawassee counties. The utility company said that this is the largest Christmas week storm in its 126 year history.
