Day 6 of Outage: Thousands Still Without Power in Barry Co.

Consumers Energy truckBARRY COUNTY, Mich. — Nearly 6,500 people are still without power in Barry County six days after last weekend’s ice storm.

According to a release from Consumers Energy, about 46,000 customers are still without service statewide.  A bulk of those are in Genessee County, with 16,765 still in the dark.

More than 1,000 workers from 13 different states are currently working on restoring power.  The storm caused more than 380,700 people to lose service since Dec. 21, according to a company press release.

As of 11:30 a.m. Friday, these were the full outage numbers for West Michigan:

  • Barry County: 6,465
  • Calhoun: 556
  • Ionia: 1,887
  • Kent: 293
