Detectives Hoping for Leads After New Surveillance Photos of Murder Victim

NELSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Detectives investigating the murder of 54-year-old Steven Day are hoping new surveillance photos will lead to tips in the case.

Day was last seen wearing the backpack in the surveillance photos.  He was found dead Dec. 18, and police believe he was strangled.

Police say the backpack and some of Day’s clothes are missing, and may ha ve been thrown in a dumpster or out of a vehicle.

His body was found at 16 Mile Road and Myers Lake Avenue in Nelson Township.  Two men were arrested in connection with the murder and have since been released.
