FT. MYERS, Florida – FOX 17 News obtained the incident report after sheriff’s deputies in Florida were called to the condominium of Kalamazoo businessman and philanthropist Bill Wright.

Wright was found dead in his Ft. Myers condo Saturday, December 28th.

FOX 17 contacted the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office Monday afternoon.  It said an autopsy has been performed; however, it would not reveal an official cause of death until toxicology results come back in eight to 10 weeks.  The test is a standard procedure in a death investigation.

The following is an excerpt of the report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department:

On Saturday, December 28, 2013, at approximately 2:22 pm, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, received a call in reference to a well being check in Lee County, Florida.  Deputy Guetler arrived on scnee and met with complaint, identified as Deputy Alan Canfield #11-122.  Canfield advised that a family friend requested a well being check on her husband, identified as William Wright, a white male, born July 21, 1959.  Deputy Guetler knocked on door with no answer … Deputy Guetler continually announced sheriff’s office.  Deputy Guetler located Wright on the floor blue in the face and not breathing within the kitchen area lying on his back with his legs laying outside the open slider door onto the lanai.  Deputy Guetler and Canfield began CPR.  Deputy Guetler found a burnt cigarette on the right shoulder of Wright.  The cigarette appeared to have burnt through the t-shirt he was wearing and burned his skin.  Fire Rescue and Lee County EMS was on scene and took over CPR.  Lee County EMS transported Wright to Health Park Hospital, where Wright later died.

Wright told FOX 17 just last week he was going to have his heart checked today.
