WEST MICHIGAN — 2014 began just as 2013 ended, with cold temperatures and snow. More snow is on the way overnight, followed by even colder temperatures next week.
This image from our in-house computer model, Future Track, shows the additional snowfall amounts overnight. Traveling into Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois could be difficult, since some areas have already picked up over eight inches of snow, and it continues to fall.
Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph Counties are under a winter storm warning until 4 p.m. Thursday.
Perhaps a bigger weather story is looming next week. A blast of incredibly cold air moves in Sunday through Wednesday, with high temperatures barely getting above zero.
The image below is from the College of DuPage and shows temperatures around Midnight Tuesday. In West Michigan, temperatures will be near zero, but this is lake-modified. On the other side of the lake, temperatures will be as cold as 25 below.
