PASADENA, Calif. — Johnny Spirit, famous for appearing at Michigan State games painted green with a white ‘S’ on his chest, was photographed being cuffed by police after the MSU Rose Bowl victory.

The image was captured by Matt Sheehan of the university’s student-run newspaper, The State News. The pictures were spotted WLNS and published by MLive.

MSU fan Debbie Henrie Parks posted on her Facebook page a picture of the superfan being cuffed by police.

Sheehan reported that Johnny Spirit merely didn’t have a pass to be where he was:

Also 10's of thousands of MSU fans were not where they should be also. In front of a NO-PAY-FOR-VIEW watching our beloved Spartans. It is all about the money.
