WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — West Michigan continues to get slammed with a winter storm, and all indications are that it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

As of 6:00pm, here is a look at some of the snowfall totals so far:

  • Eaton Rapids, 13.0″
  • Irving (Barry County), 10.5″
  • Colon (St. Joseph County), 14.0″
  • Charlotte, 12.0″
  • Kalamazoo, 9.5″
  • Schoolcraft, 8.5″
  • Beechwood, 8.0″
  • Rockford, 7.2″
  • Albion, 7.0″

While the system causing the snow will depart tonight, lake-effect snow will develop after Midnight and add another 4 to 8 inches along and west of U.S. 131. These areas remain under a winter storm warning until 8pm Monday.

The lake-effect will be caused by very cold air blowing across a relatively warm lake. This will also result in some dangerous wind chill values starting Monday and continuing through Tuesday. This image from our in-house computer model, Future Track, shows some of the “feels like” readings on Monday:
