Company Recalls Hydraulic Bike Brakes Due to Crash Hazards

consumer-alert-brake-web-gfxCHICAGO, Ill. — After receiving nearly 100 reports of product failures, cycling company SRAM is recalling more than 25,000 after-market brakes.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled bicycle brake models include SB Red Hydraulic Road Disc, SB Red Hydraulic Road Rim, SB 700 Hydraulic Road Disc and SB 700 Hydraulic Road Rim, used as either front or rear brakes.

SRAM received 95 reports of brakes failing in the U.S.  One minor injury was reported in the U.S. and another in Australia.

Consumers are urged to stop using the brakes, and contact SRAM for a free replacement, $200 voucher, or cash refund.
